This is one of the most representative works within the mannerist paintings of José Elbo, as it includes the concepts of landscape, the picaresque and popular characters which was how the artist saw this particular genre of painting. / Beneath a bright and richly gradated sky, with the architecture of an inn framing the scene, there are a series of figures wearing traditional dresses illustrating professions of the time. / The attitude of José Elbo in both painting and lifestyle was Romantic; his contemporaries considered him a bohemian and all sources speak of his genius and temperament. Most of his artistic production and the middle period of his life were dedicated to mannerist painting.
