In this suggestive night fishing scene, the silver light of the moon illuminates a boat that has nearly run aground under the bridge of Castel dell’Ovo, where a bonfire is relfected upon the shallow sea floor. The artwork, exhibited at the first Bourbon Exhibition of 1826, is intimately influenced by the romantic French landscape paintings executed during the first decades of the 19th century.
