This sketch shows Draupadi sprawled on the floor, head covered in angst, shame and despair for the painting Draupadi at the court of King Virata. Housed at the Sri Chitra Art Gallery, the Oil on Canvas is a magnificent piece of work in its composition and characters. Much later, this sketch was used by Rama Varma in the work Dasharath Kaikeyi Vilaap, where Kaikeyi is shown fallen on the floor, extracting her pound of flesh as she cunningly coerces King Dasharath into banishing Prince Rama from Ayodhya and crowning her son, Prince Bharath as king.
