This sutra transcription is written in gold ink on gold-ruled navy blue paper. The postscript says that Saionji Kinhira (1264–1315), a court noble in the late Kamakura period when Hokekyo (Lotus Sutra) spread across the country, made this copy by himself on February 8, 1306, praying for the prosperity and longevity of his family. At the time, Kinhira was 42 years old and fell from grace with Emperor Gouda. On February 20, 12 days after making this copy, he was pardoned.
