The photo depicts bread-selling in the Main Market Square of the town of Podgórze, with the stalls and the sellers and the buyers. In the background, we see the northern frontage of the Square: the neoclassical Pod Czarnym Orłem [Under the Black Eagle] house with a mansard roof and farther away, the Pod Białym Orłem [Under the White Eagle] house, the former seat of the town municipality. This monochrome photograph on a glass plate negative measuring 90 x 120 mm forms one of a series of seven photos taken by an anonymous photographer in 1907 near the Main Market Square in Podgórze (which after 1915 became The Podgórze Market in Kraków) and the Small Market Square (called Plac Zgody after 1917; now Pl. Bohaterów Getta; The Ghetto Heroes Sq.) in Podgórze.
