La Giralda sirvió como el minarete de la mezquita de Sevilla, que se transformó en una catedral en el siglo XIII. Se ve desde un punto de vista menos icónico, como un registro de un momento turístico casual. Este esbozo informal fue pintado durante uno de los viajes de Dauzats a España en compañía del Barón Isidore Taylor (1789-1879), que jugó un papel crucial en la expansión del gusto popular francés para incluir obras de arte de otras culturas y escenas de viaje al extranjero.
