The Five Orchestral Pieces, op. 16 by Arnold Schönberg were performed in Amsterdam on 12 March 1914. En esta ocasión el compositor viajó a Holanda con sus estudiantes Alban Berg, Erwin Stein y Anton Webern. Alban Berg (no visible en ninguna de las fotos) documentó el viaje y un viaje a Zandvoort en fotografías e hizo un pequeño álbum para su maestro y él mismo: “Como puedes ver, las fotos son muy mediocres debido al mal tiempo, y algunas no salieron en absoluto. Sin embargo, serán un recuerdo encantador para mí y le agradezco mucho, querido Herr Schönberg, por permitirme fotografiarle tan a menudo. Si necesita más copias por favor hágame saber qué y cuántos le gustaría!” (Alban Berg a Arnold Schönberg, 26 de marzo de 1914)
