"El Puente", hecho en cuero dorado, comparte el formato horizontal y la aplicación de pintura delgada de "La Cove del Contrabandista" (09.58.2). Se ha dicho que este paisaje panorámico combina fragmentos del paisaje de Nueva York que Ryder habría conocido: un poco del horizonte visto desde Central Park y High Bridge, que abarca el río Harlem. A pesar de estas posibles referencias a sitios específicos, "El Puente" sigue siendo imaginativo en lugar de literal.
