Este retrato perteneció anteriormente a la Colección Avogadro en Brescia y probablemente representa a Gerolamo Avogadro (dido 1534). Fechado en el paso (derecho inferior), es el primer retrato independiente de tamaño de vida de tamaño completo producido en Italia. La mirada lejana del sitter y la amplitud del traje recuerdan la tradición del retrato veneciano desarrollada por Giorgione y el joven Titiano en los primeros años del siglo XVI. Una placa de Saint Christopher se muestra prominente en el caballero
