En la primera década del siglo XIX, Dunouy recibió numerosas comisiones para pintar vistas de las fincas de los países a poca distancia de París. Desde el siglo XVIII, châteaux incluyendo Ermenonville, Malmaison, Montmorency, Mortefontaine y Saint-Cloud tenían todos los parques adquiridos en el estilo informal, inglés visto en este dibujo. Los ingleses a su vez se inspiraron en sus parques privados de las pinturas arcadianas de artistas franceses del siglo XVII que trabajan en Italia, como Nicolas Poussin y Claude Lorrain.
