Arthur Merric Bloomfield Boyd AC OBE nació en Murrumbeena, Victoria, Australia en 1920 y murió en Melbourne, Victoria en 1999. Boyd era pintor, alfarero y grabadora y parte de una familia artística. Boyd y su familia vivían en Inglaterra desde 1959 antes de regresar a Australia en 1971 y eventualmente se asentaron en una propiedad llamada Bundanon en el río Shoalhaven en la región costera oriental del sur de Nueva Gales del Sur. Esta es una de las muchas obras relacionadas con su tiempo en la propiedad Bundanon que él y su esposa Yvonne donaron al pueblo australiano en 1993.
