Los pechos generalmente consisten en dos conjuntos de cajones apilados encima uno del otro, con la parte superior generalmente menor. La caoba fina, importada de América Central o de las Indias Occidentales; las manijas de latón pulidas, desplegadas contra la madera de color marrón rojizo; y los tallados elaborados marcan el estilo Chippendale de este pecho-en-cascado-un estilo que dominaba los muebles interiores Coloniales en los años 1760 y 1770. Este ejemplo particularmente fino se atribuye al renombrado mueble Benjamin Frothingham, de Charlestown, Massachusetts. Frothingham sirvió en la Guerra de la Independencia, ganando el rango de mayor y haciendo el conocimiento del General George Washington. Washington visitó Frothingham en Charlestown en 1789.
