Carl Spitzweg repitió esta imagen y tenía diferentes títulos para diferentes versiones. El astrónomo y el astrólogo son títulos tradicionales pero en literatura también encontramos The Stargazer o The Starreader (Der Sterndeuter). Dos hombres están en una habitación en una torre con un telescopio grande y un globo a la derecha. A través de la ventana podemos ver que el cielo nocturno está claro. El hombre más viejo delgado en el fondo lleva largas túnicas y está adornado con el pelo facial, sus gafas muy gruesas.
