La santa hembra retratada en esta pintura no es identificada. La palma que tiene en su mano izquierda la clasifica como mártir. Nuvolone fue uno de los pintores más destacados de mediados del siglo XVII en Milán. Es el típico exponente del estilo lombardo de la pintura, caracterizado por el fuerte contraste entre la luz y la sombra, y la dulzura distintiva en sus figuras.
