Hieronymus van Beverningk (1614-90), embajador extraordinario holandés, es recibido en público secreto por la Reina Regente española Maria-Anna de Austria, 2 de marzo de 1671. El embajador se arrodilla a los pies de la Reina Regente vestida como abadía y la presenta con una carta. Detrás de la mesa está el cardenal Luis Fernandes de Portocarrero (1635-1709), consejero de los Regentes. En primer plano, Joanne Le Gillon (1635-1706), esposa de Van Beverningk. Dejó a una joven de pie con un fan. En el fondo a través de una ventana cara a un palacio.
