Charles Frederick Worth fue el primer creador de alta costura en la historia. Por primera vez, un vestidor diseñó trajes y los presentó, compuestos y usados por modelos, a sus clientes, en los primeros shows de moda en su salón. Los clientes eligieron un traje, y esto fue hecho para medir, con una etiqueta borda con el diseñador
