Monet formó su estanque de agua-lily en Giverny con varios sauces lloros de la variedad Babylon, que se convirtió en el tema de múltiples campañas de pintura en el período 1916-1919. El presente trabajo pertenece a un grupo de estudios que representan las reflexiones de los árboles en el agua.
