Esta obra forma parte de un grupo de cinco pasteles. Forman una historia humorística que muestra a un grupo de distinguidos caballeros teniendo una velada sociable, que comienza respetable y gradualmente sale completamente de la mano a través de la bebida. El nombre de la serie, ‘NELRI’, es una composición de las iniciales de los cinco títulos latinos en la parte superior de los marcos. Aquí, Troost no trabajaba en aceite, sino en gouache (color de agua opaca con arabic de encía) y pastel (caza blanda). Esta técnica fue muy popular en el siglo XVIII.
