David Charles Read (1790-1851) fue uno de los más fluidos originales etcher fuera de la Escuela Norwich para estar activo en Inglaterra entre los años 1820 y 1845. Esencialmente artista paisajista, Read nació en Hampshire y fue aprehendido al eminente grabador John Scott (1774-1828). Vivió y trabajó en Salisbury para la mayor parte de su vida, donde se convirtió en un maestro de dibujo.
