A principios de la década de 1970 David Porter fue un fotógrafo colaborador para algunas de las publicaciones más influyentes de Australia Rock y underground (Go-Set, Daily/Planet, Rolling Stone (Edición Australiana), The Digger. Después de mudarse a los EE.UU., tuvo un No. 1 australiano y EE.UU. golpeó a "Jessie's Girl" (1981), por lo que recibió un premio Grammy.
