A principios de la década de 1970 David Porter fue un fotógrafo colaborador para algunas de las publicaciones más influyentes de Australia Rock y underground (Go-Set, Daily/Planet, Rolling Stone (Edición Australiana), The Digger. Porter se fundó en Melbourne, su tema el zeitgeist de su música Rock/Pop, teatro subterráneo y escenas de contracultura, a veces trabajando como ‘David Porter’, a veces ‘Jacques L’Affrique’, a veces ‘Jack Africa’.
