A principios de la década de 1970 David Porter fue un fotógrafo colaborador para algunas de las publicaciones más influyentes de Australia Rock y underground (Go-Set, Daily/Planet, Rolling Stone (Edición Australiana), The Digger). En 1970 con Michael Gudinski formó Rock Consolidado y publicó (Daily)Planet (1971/72). Rock consolidado doblado 1973, abrió el Hard Rock Café de Melbourne. Became AC/DC manager 1974.
