Inspirado en la graciosa clase obrera de la pintura holandesa del siglo XVII, David Gilmour Blythe satirizó la corrupción política y social que caracterizó la vida urbana estadounidense. In Justice, a policeman leads a group of suspects into a courtroom, where they are directed to join a musician seated on a bench. El papel del juez presidente es simbolizado por las escalas de justicia, sujetas en el pico de un águila patriótica americana. Los Blood Tubs (que se mencionan en el cartel adjunto al banco del juez) eran miembros de una banda callejera de Baltimore que opone a los opositores políticos en los barriles de masacrar de sangre. Los Tubos de Sangre apoyaron al Partido Americano, que promovió prejuicios anti-extranjeros y anticatólicos y trató de restringir la inmigración a los Estados Unidos.
