Retrato del Presidente Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), 16 Presidente de los Estados Unidos hasta su asesinato el 14 de abril de 1865, por John Wilkes Booth. El presidente Lincoln es representado como “El Gran Emancipador”, sentado con la Proclamación de Emancipación ante él. En el fondo, una personificación del espíritu de libertad se muestra pisoteando y rompiendo las cadenas de esclavitud, prefigurando la victoria de la Unión durante la Guerra Civil Americana y el fin de la esclavitud.
