Danaid replica el original diseñado por Rodin para integrarse en las puertas inacabadas del infierno inspiradas en la Divina Comedia de Dante. Representa a uno de los Danaids, las hijas mitológicas del rey Danaus de Argos que fueron condenadas por asesinar a sus esposos al castigo infinito de llenar vasos sin fondo con agua.
