Evidentemente concebido como colgante al retrato de su esposo, Ignacio Garcini y Queralt, este es un retrato radicalmente diferente, comparativamente incesante. El embarazo de Doña Garcini puede explicar su vestido suelto y su pelo, pero su pose, así como la paleta y la pintura manejando todo empate esta representación a precedentes artísticos que Goya habría conocido en las colecciones reales españolas: Las robustas y pelirrojas de Rubens y las monumentales heroínas de Rembrandt, en particular su Judith en el banquete de Holofernes de 1634 (Museo del Prado, Madrid).
