David representa el nacimiento de Cristo en el pesebre como una escena corriendo continuamente a través de los tres paneles, aunque las figuras de los donantes se mantienen separadas de los protagonistas sagrados. A pesar del momento alegre representado, todas las figuras llevan expresiones sombrías, provocando el sufrimiento y la muerte eventuales de Cristo. Los dos donantes, que son presentados por Saints Jerome y Leonard, no han sido identificados. Podrían haber sido llamados Anthony y Catalina, ya que están pintados con los atributos (como el cerdo, la espada y la rueda de los santos) con estos nombres.
