Un retrato de Sir John Godsalve (c.1505-56). Un retrato de media longitud frente a tres cuartos a la derecha. Lleva un collar de piel, vestido negro, mangas azules y sostiene una carta. Inscrito en una mano del siglo XVIII a la izquierda superior y a la izquierda del oído: Sr Iohn Godsalue. S John Godsalue. John Godsalve fue presentado por primera vez por Holbein en 1528 junto a Sir Thomas Godsalve, su padre bien conectado (Gemäldegalerie, Dresden). Desde la edad aparente del tamiz, el retrato puede ser fechado a los primeros años del artista
