Gyoshu (1894-1935) es conocido por aplicar la representación realista aprendida de pintura occidental y pintura china a pintura japonesa. Pintó con encanto a un gato abrazado tranquilamente dormido como la luz suave del sol naciente llenando la atmósfera.
