Helmer Osslund es famoso por sus paisajes de otoño sueco norte. En 1910, pintó esta vista del río Ångermanälven desde Storberget en Nordingrå. Ganó una medalla de oro en la Feria Mundial de San Francisco en 1915. Más tarde, Osslund volvió a pintar la misma vista en un total de cinco versiones, con diferentes adiciones y diferentes colores y características. Sólo la primera versión fue pintada en el sitio – en ocho hojas de papel ingrasable que transfirió al lienzo
