Daumier fue publicado por primera vez en un semanario satírico llamado La Silhouette, y allí recibió su primer gusto de censura y política republicana. Daumier luchó contra sus batallas políticas con su crayón litográfico. Las situaciones modernas e inconvenientes de una sociedad industrializada fueron un gran enemigo para Daumier
