Aquí Turner ha utilizado Baiae, en la Bahía de Nápoles, como escenario para el mito de Apolo y el Sibyl Cumaean. Este último pidió al dios romano que le otorgara la vida durante tantos años como los granos de arena que podía sostener en su mano. Sin embargo, ella omitió pedir la juventud eterna y desperdiciado hasta que sólo su voz permaneció. El tema conmovedor de su historia se refleja en Turner
