En un paisaje italiano algunos cazadores, vestidos de primera vestuario, se detienen en las ruinas de un antiguo edificio romano. Un mendigo joven sentado junto a uno de los pilares tiene un sombrero en su mano con la esperanza de recibir limosnas. En primer lugar es un niño en un traje de caza roja con luz brillante frente a una puerta monumental. Está acompañado por tres perros. En sus manos tiene una red plegada. Una bolsa de caza azul y la captura del día - una liebre, un garrote y dos perdices - se encuentran a sus pies.
