Algunas frutas están puestas en una mesa de mármol. Hay ciruelas, uvas y bayas. El papel principal se da al melocotón, en el que hay una pequeña mariposa blanca. Una hormiga se arrastra sobre la piel suave de la fruta. Esta pequeña pintura pertenece a una flor de vida muerta de las mismas dimensiones. Van Huysum los pintó tanto en placas de cobre, que tienen una superficie dura y lisa que es ideal para este tipo de trabajo pequeño y preciso.
