Este cuadro de gabinete fue creado casi sin duda para satisfacer el creciente mercado de las pinturas de figuras de Corot en los años 1860. La figura se encuentra en una piel de leopardo o tigre; el accesorio es responsable de la identificación tradicional de la ninfa como seguidor del dios romano del vino, Bacchus.
