Durante los meses de verano, los residentes de Estambul huyeron de la ciudad de calambre para buscar refresco a las orillas del Bosphorus. Las mujeres que formaban parte del harem del sultán y el gran visera en nombre de algunas veces parte de los picnics y probablemente Vanmour quería representar tal ocasión. Hunkiar Iskêléci era un lugar conocido en el Bosphorus donde se encontraron.
