En 1733, Oudry fue encargado de producir tres caricaturas de tapiz que ilustran las cazas de Luis XV. Las tapicerías, tejidas en la fábrica de Gobelins, tenían por objeto decorar la cama y la antecámara del rey y el Salón del Consejo en el castillo de Compiègne. En 1738, se decidió que la serie constaría de nueve dibujos animados; éstos fueron completados por Oudry en 1746. Moïse de Camondo les compró al comerciante de antigüedades Jacques Seligmann en 1921.
