El nombre de la marquesa y la fecha se inscriben en la camilla. En 1744, el año que se sentó para Nattier, se casó en París con François Achard Joumard Tison d"Argence (1719-1781), que descendió de varias familias de gran antigüedad en Angoulême y Périgueux. En este retrato formal y frontal el joven sitter lleva un corpiño puntiagudo con encaje y perlas. Una longitud extravagante de tejido tipo tafetán se nuda en su pecho. Los árboles, algunos con ramas sin hojas, son inusuales para un retrato en este formato relativamente pequeño.
