Joaquín Gonzalo y Tarín (Teruel, 1838 – La Granja, Segovia, 1910) fue un ingeniero minero especializado en petrografía y estratigrafía microscópica. Participó en la Comisión para el Mapa Geológico de España, centrándose especialmente en el distrito minero de Huelva, que llevó a la creación de su obra más significativa: una visión física, geológica y minera de la provincia de Huelva (1886-88). Esta obra es muy valiosa para el estudio de la geografía y la minería en la provincia de Huelva a finales del siglo XIX, cuando la producción minera llegó a su punto culminante.
