El sitter estaba casado con Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1816), un famoso dramaturgo y miembro del Parlamento. En este retrato, mostrado en la Real Academia en 1797, ella golpea una pose teatral con el pretexto de un trabajador rural que lleva a su hijo Charles sobre su hombro.
