Este retrato de una mujer no identificada se asemeja a muchos otros retratos desde entonces, tanto británicos como estadounidenses. El intercambio artístico fue común en todo el Océano Atlántico. Los ciudadanos coloniales de clase alta viajaron a Londres, donde algunos pintaron sus retratos. Los artistas británicos se mudaron a América por sus carreras.
