Cuando el conde Carl Gustaf Wrangel encargó a Skokloster que se construyera, se inspiró en el diseño de la casa italiana, con logias y un patio interior abierto. Este último da al edificio plena ventaja de la escasa luz del día que Suecia ofrece en invierno. El inconveniente es el frío; el patio abierto da acceso completo a la temperatura exterior al interior. En el dibujo la entrada al lado del lago es a la izquierda y la entrada del parque a la derecha.
