Myles Birket Foster fue un pintor inglés, ilustrador y coleccionista. Trabajó por primera vez como ilustrador y desde 1858 trató de establecerse como pintor de acuarela. Sus acuarelas resultaron ser más populares y fueron apreciadas por su detalle Pre-Raphaelite, pero sin la dureza del color y la composición inusual. Su técnica de acuarela, con su dependencia de lavados en lugar de lavados anchos, refleja su experiencia de diseño para grabado de madera.
