Los ojos lo tienen en estas dos pinturas de San Sebastián (ver 71.464), un mártir cristiano temprano. Sebastian sirvió como capitán en el ejército romano imperial, pero cuando se negó a renunciar a su fe, sus soldados le dispararon con flechas. Nicolas Régnier retrató el pálido clímax de la historia (a la izquierda), mostrando el atado Sebastián perforado por flechas, mientras que Anthony van Dyck (71.464) eligió un momento anterior cuando los hombres de Sebastian lo prepararon para su ejecución. En uno, los ojos de Sebastian miran hacia el cielo para la liberación; en el otro, el santo nos mira directamente mientras enfrenta su destino.
