Nikola Petrov creó una serie de pinturas de paisaje urbano, representando a los hitos de Sofía que ayudaron a transformar la capital en una ciudad moderna, como “St. Sofía Church”, “Lion’s Bridge”, “The National Theater” y “Banski Square”. Sus paisajes, tanto urbanos como naturales, están en el espíritu del postimpresionismo, mientras que también se basan en el simbolismo. La vida de Petrov fue cortada por la tuberculosis durante la ICM. Hoy sus obras se consideran clásicos del Arte Moderno en Bulgaria.
