Nacido (1877) y criado en Kyoto, Nishimura Go’un estudió bajo Kishi Chikudō y Takeuchi Seihō. Se hizo conocido por sus pinturas magistrales animales. Después de que su salud falló durante la era de Taishō (1912-1926), se dice que ha dado la mano principalmente a pequeñas pinturas. Esta pintura, sin embargo, se muestra en la prestigiosa exposición Sansankai de 1935 celebrada en Takashimaya, es una obra grande y poderosa. Una playa de arena fring Lake Biwa inspiró este trabajo.
