Seiobo es el nombre japonés de los inmortales chinos taoístas, Xiwangmu, la Reina Madre de Occidente. Según la leyenda, el jardín de su residencia tenía árboles que una vez cada tres mil años llevaban los melocotones de la inmortalidad—frutos que conferían longevidad a todos los afortunados para probarlos. Korin ha representado a Seiobo como un noble matron al estilo de una belleza china. Esta interpretación puede haber sido inspirada por la aparición de damas de la corte china en pinturas de género del siglo XVII del día.
