Patrick Nasmyth era conocido como "el Hobbema Inglés". La influencia de los paisajistas holandeses del siglo XVII como Meyndert Hobbema (1638–1709) y Jacob van Ruisdael (1628/29–1682) es ampliamente evidente en esta encantadora escena de la vida rural.
