El Cabo Norte fue uno de los motivos favoritos de Balke. Su repetición de la composición actual, aunque con diferencias en los detalles, invita a una comparación estrecha de sus diversos enfoques para pintarla. En esta versión diminutiva, no muy de tres pulgadas de alto, el cepillo activo tiene un papel extraíble en relación con el tema, sugiriendo que el objetivo del artista no era tanto descriptivo como evocador.
