Esta escena aparece en una copia posterior de un cuadro de dinastía Tang que ilustra la historia de una leyenda literaria, Lady Su Hui, que supuestamente había vivido a finales del siglo IV. La datación de la pintura original es apoyada por los tipos de instrumentos representados en ella. Tanto el arpa (konghou) como el pipa jugado con un plectrum desaparecido después del Tang.
